Lydia was born about 1634.1   Lydia's father was James Penniman and her mother was Lydia Eliot.  Her maternal grandparents were Bennett Eliot and Lettice Aggar. She had four brothers and four sisters, named James, John, Joseph, Samuel, Sarah, Hannah, Abigail and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the nine children.1
