SECOND GENERATION
Josiah Owen [2] (John [1]), was born at Windsor, CT September 8, 1651 and died there September 11, 1722. He married (1) October 22, 1674, Mary Osborn, Born April 16, 1655, died August 6, 1689, daughter of John and Ann (Oldage) Osborn of East Windsor; and (2) Sarah -----, who survived him. Four months after his death she comforted herself by marrying January 8, 1723, Nathaniel Holcomb of Simsbury, CT.
In 1673 Josiah and his father signed a petition of New Society to the General Court.
Josiah Owen moved from Windsor to Simsbury in 1682, where he became one of the proprietors. From 1679 on, numerous grants and conveyances of land to and from him are entered in the Simsbury records. In May 1686 he was propounded for "freeman" and in October 1686 he was so accepted by the General Court. The baptisms in Simsbury of Isaac, Mary, Abigail, Elizabeth, John, and Rachel, children of Josiah Owen of Windsor, CT. where he lived until his death, which is recorded there. In his will he names his wife, Sarah; Elizabeth, wife of Samuel Case of Simsbury, CT; Mary, wife of Enoch Phelps of Windsor; Rachel, wife of Samuel Phelps of Windsor; Abigail, wife of Samual Clark of Simsbury; Josiah Owen, and John Owen.
