John was born about 1775 in Craven Co., NC.1   John's father was Philip Mew.  His paternal grandparents were Philip Mew and Neomia. He had a brother and a sister, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Macamee, Tabitha and Neomy.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  John is no longer alive.1
