Joseph was born in 1815 in Mackinac County, Michigan.1   Joseph's father was Joseph Lozon and his mother was Nancy Pelotte. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Pierre, Alexander, Gabriel, William, Edmond, Madeline, Mary Louise, Elizabeth, Eliza and Chistine.  He was the oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 85 on March 5th, 1900 in Holmes Township,  Michigan.1
