Alexander was born about 1856.1   Alexander's father was Henry Kennedy and his mother was Polly DeLoach.  His paternal grandparents were Edward Kennedy and Cynthia Unknown. He had a brother and six sisters, named William Henry, Nancy, Miram, Emily, Polly Ann, America S. and Luvincy.  He was the youngest of the eight children.1
