Matthew Jones 
Matthew was born in May 1890 in Cartersville, Cumberland Co, Virginia.1 Matthew's father was Shedrack Jones and his mother was Sally Jane Jenkins. His paternal grandparents were Jim Thomas Jones and Adaline Braxton; his maternal grandparents were Tolton Jenkins and Betsy Mayo. He had three brothers and a sister, named William Henry, James, Warner and Maria. He was the second youngest of the five children.1 -
