Luther was born after 1819.1   Luther's father was Johnathan Johnson and his mother was Susanna Burwell.  His paternal grandparents were Windsor Johnson and Rebecca Nichols; his maternal grandfather was David Burwell. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, Johnathan, Hiram, Phebe and Prudence.  He was the youngest of the six children.1
