1   Sydney Anne's father was Benjamin Horne and her mother was Catherine Lanier.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Horne and Serena Barfield. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Christian D. L., Hosea Lewis, Jacob H., Lany, Lena Charlotte, Mary Ellender, Edna and Harriet Carolyn.1
