1   Edna's father was Benjamin Horne and her mother was Catherine Lanier.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Horne and Serena Barfield. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Christian D. L., Hosea Lewis, Jacob H., Lany, Lena Charlotte, Mary Ellender, Sydney Anne and Harriet Carolyn.1
