1   John Alfred's father was Alfred Horne and his mother was Celia Lanier.  His paternal grandparents were Henry Horne and Serena Barfield. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Henry Wright, Lewis Thomas, Lennie, Martha Anne, Mary Catherine and Serena.  He died in 1862 in Onslow Co., N. C..1
