William was born in 1867.1   William's father was Samuel Hollaway and his mother was Martha A. Welch.  His maternal grandparents were Richard Welch and Elizabeth Leach. He had a brother and a sister, named Henry C. and Rosella.  He was the second oldest of the three children.1
