1   Elizabeth's father was John Hoey and her mother was Caroline L Pierce.  Her paternal grandparents were John Hoey and Mary Scott. She had six brothers and a sister, named Charles, Cornelius, Harman, John, William, Wyman and Marion. She had two half-sisters named Agnes and Mary.1
