George Arthur was born on May 29th, 1912 in Sanilac County, Michigan. George Arthur's father was George Arthur Hobson and his mother was Susan A. Sitter. His maternal grandparents were Jacob C. Sitter and Anne Marie Forsyth. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William Ernest, Frances Ann, Stanley, Ethel May, Beatice Phobie, Mildred Ann, Irene Elizabeth and Bessie Jean.
