Her paternal grandparents were Alois Joseph Guepfer and Katherine Heinzer; her maternal grandparents were Hubert Steffen and Juliana Abts. She had two brothers and seven sisters, named Frederick William, John Joseph, Mary A., Christina, Theresa Frances, Clara C., Mary Katherine, Mary Magdelene and Rose Katherine.-
