Andrew was born about 1810 in Scott, Tennessee.1   Andrew's father was Richard Griffith and his mother was Savaria Jane [Sorphia]. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, Daniel, William, Armstead H, Louis, Allen, Sarah, Elizebeth, Jane [Jennie], Rebecca and Lucretia.  He was the oldest of the twelve children.1
