Kitsey was born on February 18th, 1849 in Onslow Co., N. C..1   Kitsey's father was John R. Fountain and her mother was Molsey A. Brown.  Her paternal grandparents were John R. Cutler and Mary Fountain; her maternal grandparents were Howell Brown and Jane Parker. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Jere Winfield, Thomas Ruffin, Nick, Mary Ann, Celia Caroline, Eliza and Lennie.  She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 74 on October 5th, 1923 in Onslow Co., N. C..1
