Laura was born in 1872.1   Laura's father was James Fenton and her mother was Lucretia J. McLaughlin.  Her maternal grandmother was Diane Unknown. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Erwin, Charles, Fred James, Estellah and Ethiel Lorena.  She was the oldest of the six children.1
