William was born on July 11th, 1825 in Ohio.1   William's father was John J. Doyle and his mother was Sarah Jane Wilson. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Carlton W., Thomas, Elias, John, Samuel, Sarah Maria, Ida Ann and Jane.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.1
