1   Martha Newton's father was Alvin Jordan Dortch and her mother was Tennessee Jordan Glover.  Her paternal grandfather was William Archer Dortch. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Jasper Newton, Charlie, Millard Seals, Richard Oliver, Walter Gee, Weldon Hall, Hester Ann, Mary Bell, Sally Gooden and Theresa.1
