Jasper Newton was born in 1898.1   Jasper Newton's father was Alvin Jordan Dortch and his mother was Tennessee Jordan Glover.  His paternal grandfather was William Archer Dortch. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Charlie, Millard Seals, Richard Oliver, Walter Gee, Weldon Hall, Hester Ann, Martha Newton, Mary Bell, Sally Gooden and Theresa.1
