Francis Bartow was born on December 17th, 1861 in Mc Intosh Co., GA.1 Francis Bartow's father was Samuel John Dean and his mother was Sarah Ann Welch. His paternal grandparents were Gideon Barnwell Dean and Elizabeth Williams. He had three brothers and a sister, named Charles Courtney, Samuel Randolph, Augustus A. and Anna E. C..
