Sarah Jane's father was George Davis and her mother was Sarah Medalon Wolsey. Her paternal grandparents were Jonathon Davis and Catherine Jane Taylor; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Andrew Wolsey and Sarah Ann Motley. She had four brothers and a sister, named Thomas Edward, George Franklin, Jonathon Delafayette, William Theodore and Dora Medalon. She had a half-brother named Living.-
