1   Elizabeth's father was Samuel Dalton and her mother was Mehitabel Palmer.  Her paternal grandparents were Philemon Dalton and Dorothy; her maternal grandfather was Henry Palmer. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Samuel, Philemon, John, Caleb, Joseph, Timothy, Mehitable, Mary, Abigail, Dorothy and Hannah.1
