Dennis was born on February 18th, 1789 in Bloody Brook Deerfield, MA..1 Dennis' father was Eli Cooley and his mother was Chloe Allen. His paternal grandparents were Azariah Cooley and Eleanor Warriner; his maternal grandparents were Caleb Allen and Judith Hawks. He had eight brothers and five sisters, named Hollis, Eli, Eli, Caleb Allen, Orrin Or Oraendo, Almond, Sedgwicki, Almond Or Almerin, Phila, Rhue Or Rhenei, Emily (Emelina) Allen, Rhue Or and Chloe. He was the oldest of the fourteen children. He died at the age of 61 on September 27th, 1850 in Washington Macomb Co. MI..1 General Notes

Dr. Dennis Cooley studied medicine under Dr. S. W. Williams. He came to
Michigan in 1826. His home & office was in the village of Washington he
was the 1st. postmaster in Washington . He also was a Botinist and studied
the Flora & Fona thru out the area. He adopted his brothers daughter Emily Graves Cooley when her mother died. He had a daughter by first wife Elizabeth
Anderson da. of Solomon and his 2nd wife Elizabeth Brigham Anderson.m.24 March 1810.
Elizabeth Anderson was b. 21 May 1811 & d. 19 October 1834 ae. 23
They were prob. ma. 01 or 16 May 1830 in Michigan. He was listed in the Deerfield V. R. as from Indian River, MI.
