Othniel Marvin Clark 
Othniel Marvin was born on February 4th, 1831 in Westhampton, Hampshire Co., MA.1 Othniel Marvin's father was Sherman Hooker Clark and his mother was Samantha Bates. His paternal grandparents were Reuben Clark and Susanna Rising; his maternal grandparents were John Bates and Nancy Cogswell. He had a brother and two sisters, named Cyrenius Augustus, Susan Ann and Lelia Emerson. He was the second youngest of the four children. He died due to Diabetes Melitus at the age of 74 on February 26th, 1905 in Lee Center, Lee Co., IL.1 General Notes

Westhampton listed as birthplace for Mary and Othniel. Place of residence at time of marriage for Othniel was Easthampton, where his mother and father also resided at that time. Bride and her parents both of Westhampton at time of the marriage.
In 1852 he made a voyage to California, and in 1856 returned and bought a farm in Easthampton. On April 28, 1858 he was married to Miss Mary Wright, daughter of Martin Wright of Westhampton. In the autumn of 1860 Mr. Clark came to Lee County (IL), and taught school the following winter. The next Spring his family arrived, and he bought a farm not far from Lee Center, in China Township. In 1872 he traded this one for the one he now occupies on the Chicago Road, one mile west of Lee Center. Mr. Clark is Road Commissioner, and treasurer of the board and school director in the Lee Center District, and clerk also of that board. This is a union district lying in four townships. In addition to these offices he is the executive agent for the Lee Center Butter and Cheese Manufacturing Company, does the buying and selling, and has charge of all the business. Perhaps the most responsible position he holds is that of president of the Lee Center Sunday School Association. Mrs. Clark has belonged to the Congregational Church since she was sixteen years and Mr. Clark about eight years. -Hist. of Lee County; H. H. Hill, Chicago, 1881.
Othniel appears in the 1870 US Census in China Township, Lee County. His occupation is listed as farmer. In the 1900 Census he is listed as a "Capitalist", living in Lee Center. He died on the 26th of February, 1905. The Certificate of Death lists Diabetes as the immediate cause and Gangrene of feet as a contributory cause. He is buried with his wife and the other Clarks at Lee Center.
