William was born about 1865 in California.1   William's father was Milbury Burgett and his mother was Lucinda Rockholt.  His paternal grandmother was Catharine Milbury; his maternal grandparents were John Rockholt and Amanda Unknown. He had eight sisters named Sarah Ann, Eliza, Harriett Ellen, Clemme Agnes, Lena, Eva Mae, Elizabeth and Rhoda.1
