Benjamin was born in 1854 in Polk Co., MO.1   Benjamin's father was Harim Bridges and his mother was Elizabeth.  His paternal grandparents were Allen Bridges and Sarah Unknown. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Robert Allen, Allen, Nancy, Alley and Sarah.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.1
