Allen was born in 1865 in Polk Co., MO.1   Allen's father was Harim Bridges and his mother was Elizabeth.  His paternal grandparents were Allen Bridges and Sarah Unknown. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Benjamin, Robert Allen, Nancy, Alley and Sarah.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.1
