Elizabeth was born about 1628.1   Elizabeth's father was John Benton and her mother was Mary Southernwood.  Her paternal grandparents were Andrew Benton and Mary Unknown. She had two brothers and a sister, named Andrew, Thomas and Marie.  She was the youngest of the four children.1
