Joseph was born in 1635.1   Joseph's father was William Bassett and his mother was Elizabeth Unknown. He had two brothers and four sisters, named William, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, Sarah, Jane and Ruth.  He died at the age of 77 in 1712.1
