Margaret was born about 1555 in Chellaston, Derby, England.1   Margaret's father was John Bancroft and her mother was Margaret Hollingsworth.  Her paternal grandfather was William Bancroft. She had four brothers named William, Ralph, Thomas and Bancroft.  She was the youngest of the five children.1
