1   Lydia's father was Alexander Balcom and her mother was Jane Holbrook.  Her maternal grandparents were William Holbrook and Elizabeth Pitts. She had three brothers and six sisters, named John, Alexander, Samuel, Katherine Balcom, Deborah, Freegift, Hannah, Joseph and Sarah.1
