Joseph was born on May 9th, 1723 in Goshen, PA.1   Joseph's father was George Ashbridge and his mother was Mary Malin.  His maternal grandfather was Randall Malin. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, George, Jonathan, Aaron, Elizabeth, Mary, Phoebe, Lydia and Hannah.1
