John was born on June 1st, 1702 in Goshen, PA.1   John's father was George Ashbridge and his mother was Mary Malin.  His maternal grandfather was Randall Malin. He had four brothers and five sisters, named George, Jonathan, Aaron, Joseph, Elizabeth, Mary, Phoebe, Lydia and Hannah.  He died at the age of 44 on May 21st, 1747.1
