Anders was born on March 8th, 1828 in Vellerup, Frederiksborg, Denmark.1   Anders' father was Anders Rasmussen and his mother was Anna Sophie Kirstine Pedersdatter.  His paternal grandfather was Rasmus Dinesen. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Rasmus, Lars, Karen Sophie and Kirstine.  He was the oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Soren, Karen Marie and Anna Catherine.1
