(1) Richard Lee, memeber of the Council, etc., was the son of "Richard Lee,
Gent." and as his tombstone (on Lee's Creek, an arm of Lower Machodoc, West-
moreland county) states, "was descended from an ancient family of Merton Regis
in shropshire, and was very skilful in the Greek and Latin Languages and other

parts of polite learning." He died 12th March 1714-15 in his 68th year.
