From biographical appendix: He was a physician and surgeon by profession.
He graduated at Memphis in 1852, and in the same year, married and located
at Purdy. Dr. Barry was one of the oldest, most respected, and most
influential men in McNairy Co. He was the father of 6 boys and 2 girls by
Eliza There is some question, middle may have been Derry. Family Tradition,
Dr Barry composed 'Little Brown Jug' in May 1936.
