His paternal grandparents were William Randolph and Mary Royall Isham; his maternal grandparents were Charles Rodgers and Jane Lilburn. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named William, Thomas Isham, Isham, Anne, Jane Isham, Mary, Elizabeth, Dorothea, Ann and Susanna.
