His paternal grandparents were Hensley Ramsey and Anna Pettypool; his maternal grandparents were Redmond Gregory Glascock and Sarah S P Pool. He had four brothers and four sisters, named W R, Edmand S., John Ezra, Jesse F., E A, Sarah A., Martha J. and Susan F.. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.-
