David was born on June 22nd, 1805 in North Carolina, USA.1   David's father was William Ramsey and his mother was Nancy Jones.  His paternal grandparents were Daniel Ramsey and Frances Townsend. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Hensley, Archibald Bauldy, Edmund, Woodson Q, Daniel, Thomas T, Frances and Margaret.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 52 on January 1st, 1858 in Hopkins, Kentucky, USA.1
