William was born on February 15th, 1757 in Herring Creek, Anne Arundel,MD.  William's father was Abraham A Holland and his mother was Asenath Spires. He had a brother and a sister, named Basil and Rachel.  He was the youngest of the three children. He had a half-sister named Reason.  He died at the age of 65 on February 21st, 1822 in Clinton, Laurens, SC.
