Jonathan was born about 1638 in Somersetshire, England.1   Jonathan's father was Robert Royce.  His paternal grandfather was Thomas Royce. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Nehemiah, Joshua, Nathaniel, Samuel, Isaac, Sarah, Patience and Ruth.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  He died on September 22nd, 1690 in Norwich, New London, Connecticut.1
