Asa Chandler was born about 1873 in Hart County, Georgia, USA.¹ Asa Chandler's father was John Andrew Brown and his mother was Lucinda Matilda Frances Jones. His paternal grandparents were James Early Brown and Nancy E. McCurry; his maternal grandparents were William A. Jones and Lucy Ann Brown. He had five brothers and three sisters, named William Leighton, James Alexander Washington, George A., Mack Lester, Stanley J., Lucy Ann, Nancy Lee and Flora Della. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.¹
