Robert I Guiscard was born in Coutances, Normandy, France.  Robert I Guiscard's father was Tancred of Hauteville and his mother was Fredistina or Fredesende of Normandy.  His maternal grandparents were Richard I of Normandy and Unknown Mistress4. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Roger I, Aubrey or Alberic, Humbert (Hubert), Roger, Tancred, William, Mauger and Fressenda. He had five half-brothers named Onfroi, William "Iron-Arm", Drogo, Godfrey and Serlo.  He died on July 15th, 1085 in Of fever at seige of Kephalonia, Corfu.  He was buried in St. Trinita at Venosa.
