Richard was born in 1244 in Kinlet, Shropshire, England. Richard's father was Richard of England and his mother was Joan de Valletort. His paternal grandparents were John "Soft Sword" and Isabella de Taillefer. He had a sister named Joan. He had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Henry of, Edmund of, Philip, Walter, Child, Child and Child. He died at the age of 52 in 1296 in Berwick Hill, Ponteland, Northumberland, England. He was buried in Hayle, St. Erthe, Cornwall, England.General Notes
