Matilda was born about 1095.  Matilda's father was Henry I 'Beauclerc' of England and her mother was Sybilla Corbet.  Her paternal grandparents were William I of Normandy and Matilda Forrester; her maternal grandfather was Robert Corbet. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Reginald FitzRoy, William, Gilbert, Earl of, William, Sybilla of, Alice, Emma, Gundred, Eustacie and Rohese. She had seven half-brothers and eight half-sisters, named Robert of, William The, Richard, Henry, Monk at, Richard of, Baron of, Euphamia, Maud, Nun at, Isabel, Abbess of, Maud, Constance and Joan.
