Raymond was born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.  Raymond's father was Ramon Berenguer I "El Vell" and his mother was Almodis de La Marche.  His paternal grandfather was Berenguer Ramon "The Crooked"; his maternal grandparents were Bernard I de la Marche and Amelia de Montignac. He had a brother and two sisters, named Berenguer, Ines of and Sancha of. He had six half-brothers and a half-sister, named Pedro, Berenguer, Arnau, Hugh VI "Le Diable", William IV of, Raimond IV and Almodis of.  He died on December 5th, 1082 in Murdered by his twin brother while hunting in the woods.


Raymond's first family with Maude (Mathilda) of Apulia De Hauteville

‌Raymond and Maude (Mathilda) of Apulia were married in a religious ceremony about 1078.  They had a son and a daughter, named Raymond III "The Great" and Stephanie (Etiennete).
