George Smith was born on November 30th, 1856 in Charleston, (now) W VA. George Smith's father was George Smith Patton and his mother was Susan Thornton Glassell. His paternal grandfather is John Mercer Patton and his paternal grandmother was Margaret French Williams; his maternal grandparents are Andrew Glassell and Susan Thompson Thornton. He was an only child. He died at the age of 70 in June 1927 in Los Angeles, CA.General Notes
