Eirene was born about 1232. Eirene's father was Andronikos Palaiologos and her mother is Theodora Palaiologina. Her paternal grandparents are Alexios Palaiologos and Eirene Komnena Kantakuzena; her maternal grandparents were Alexios Palaiologos and Eirena Angelina. She had a brother named Michael VIII.
