Laurence was born about 1530. Laurence's father was Laurence Oliphant and his mother is Margaret Sandilands. His paternal grandfather was Colin Oliphant and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Keith; his maternal grandfather was James Sandilands and his maternal grandmother is Margaret Kerr.
